Oh Me Soul!
Everybody. Everybody is talking ’bout the quad-sqaud from Boston known as Lake Street Dive. Is it because they have a chill acronym, LSD? Perhaps. But everyone from Kevin Bacon to Stephen Colbert has vouched for these guys, and the reason is obvious–HECK, they got more soul than a cobbler! Though they began their journey in 2004, at a conservatory in Boston, they only started to taste some sweet momentum when they released a cover of I Want You Back. Their new album Bad Self Portraits came out a few weeks ago and it’s of the finest quality. Here’s the title track.
Oh yes. That some full-body singing right there. In flannel no less. They had me after the first lyric. A sound you can taste. And it tastes good. Here’s the diddly that got them over a million Youtube monies.
And on a Bawston sidewalk no less! That’s gotta be how they got so many views. And why Lake Street Dive? “We are named in homage to dive bar bands,” specifically one in guitarist’s Mike Olson’s hometown of Minneapolis. These groovy dudes play NYC March 31st and April 1st at the Bowery Ballroom–again, SOULED OUT–see what I did there? Sold out… anyways, if anyone finds tickets, let a milker know. Enjoy.
